The Story Behind the Saddle
At Wanderlust Equestrian we believe travel is more than just a destination—it's a shared experience. I founded this community as a professional author and podcast host dedicated to bringing together fellow lovers of horses and travel. My background in storytelling and solo travel has shaped our mission to foster a vibrant, sassy, and professional travel community where every journey is a collective experience.
These are not gallop and go adventures. Rather it is an opportunity to experience new cultures and landscapes with a dash of saddle time- think a trail ride on Icelandic horses at the walk and tólt for an hour or two followed by hiking to waterfalls and eating at local gems.
Some events are for riders of all levels, and others are for the more experienced equestrians. For us, it's all about the journey itself.

Community Adventures
Our riders are women who love to travel, explore new locations, and hop into the saddle occasionally. These are women of all riding levels and experiences, who want the opportunity to spend more time on horses when they travel, in a relaxed and safe environment. Whether you are traveling solo or with friends, our experiences celebrate the community of women.
Some events are more riding focused like the Leirubakki Horse Farm, and others, like the Hidden Gem, are more travel focused with snippets of riding daily. Choose the best fit for you! Have questions? Reach out. I'm here to help.
About
Heather Wallace
Heather Wallace is short, sassy, and bold on the ground but not in the saddle! She is on a personal journey as a returning adult equestrian to follow her passion despite struggling with anxiety, trying to balance motherhood, and build a small business. Of course, she can't do it alone! She has Ferrous, her confidence-building pony and Delight, her heart horse and an off-track Thoroughbred who challenges her in every way.
She is the award-winning author of non-fiction books Confessions of a Timid Rider, Adulting with Horses, and Girl Forward: A Tale of One Woman's Unlikely Adventure in Mongolia as well as the awarding winning blog, The Timid Rider.
Travel is something Heather is passionate about. She supports events and destinations that she loves to attend herself and has been all over the world as a solo traveler and travel host.
Heather lives in New Jersey with her family, two rescue dogs, and her horses (of course!).
